HAMPTON — Michael McDowell sped to the pole Saturday in qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State Available at Walmart race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

McDowell, who had never earned a pole before this season, clinched his second AMS pole this year and his fifth overall pole.
