Opportunity School District meeting scheduled for Oct. 18

McDONOUGH — The Georgia Association of Educators and the Henry County Association of Educators are hosting meeting with the community to discuss Amendment No. 1, which, if approved, could significantly change how failing schools are handled across the state.

The proposed constitutional amendment, which will appear on the Nov 8 ballots, asks voters whether they would approve of creating Opportunity School Districts. OSD, proposed by Gov. Nathan Deal, would authorize the state to step in to take over chronically failing schools in Georgia.
