Vincent Jackson can tell, almost immediately, when Luella junior third baseman Chase Scott hits a home run. There is a distinct sound off the bat, a particular trajectory of the ball and a certain sureness in Scott's trot down the first base line. When Jackson identifies those three things, he never has a doubt where the ball will land.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, with the score tied, Scott connected with a 2-0 fastball, and Jackson immediately saw the signs of another blast.
