The Chairman of the Senate Committee of Judiciary, Senator Brian Strickland (R — McDonough), was appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones to serve as a member of the 2023 Senate Study Committee on Occupational Licensing.

“I appreciate Lt. Jones for appointing me to serve on this committee, and I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about Georgia’s occupational licensing process,” said Strickland. “There are many opportunities to reform our current system to ensure that licensing boards protect the public but do not improperly inhibit the ability of Georgians to work in the many fields these boards oversee. This work started this past session with Senate Bill 157, a bill I drafted to reform the way criminal records are treated by licensing boards, and I look forward to joining my colleagues in the Senate as we continue to look for other avenues of reform.”
