MCDONOUGH — The typical tennis star stands on his own two feet and wields a racket on the storied courts of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the U.S. Open.

But there’s one star athlete on the tennis courts of Richard Craig Park who doesn’t have the same honor. His name is Harlon Matthews. He’s a wheelchair tennis clinician and coach who got a possibly larger honor last week, when the United States Tennis Association presented him the prestigious Brad Parks Award during the annual meeting at the Boca Club and Resort in Boca Raton, Fla.
