McDONOUGH — When Reginald Scandrett walked across the stage to accept his Frederick Douglass High School diploma, the 1987 graduate already had 14 full music scholarships awaiting his decision. His passion since the second grade, music is what inspired him and what first opened the doors of leadership that directed him where he is today.

A percussionist and pianist, Scandrett was always named band section leader in high school before becoming president of the 400-member organization, which has historically been one of the most notable marching bands in the state.
