Veto, public hearing for property rezoning on today’s Stockridge council agenda

STOCKBRIDGE — Council will have the opportunity to override Mayor Tim Thompson’s veto during the city council meeting at 6p.m.

Thompson issued a veto late last month to veto a budget amendment that would transfer $125,001 that would be used to cover ongoing legal expenses. Thompson told the Herald his purpose of the veto is bring back up the discussion of the amount spent on the city attorney’s contract. He hopes his colleagues will consider lowering the amount paid to the city attorney, who is paid $10,000 per month plus an extra $2,500 to monitor outside legal counsel that the city may have.
