EAST POINT — There will be a new boys basketball champion in Class AAAAA this season.

Defending state champ Dutchtown lost 70-57 Friday night at Tri-Cities in the Final Four, falling just short of a return to the state finals. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 23-8 record.

Tri-Cities (23-4) advances to the state championship game against the winner of Saturday's Eagle's Landing-Chapel Hill matchup.

Coen Carr of Dutchtown led all scorers with 21 points in Friday's semifinal. He was backed up by 16 points from Gary Richardson.
