STOCKBRIDGE— The Stockbridge Tigers fell just one game short of advancing to the Georgia Dome for the Class 5A state championship game after starting the season with a perfect 13-0 record. The Tigers suffered a similar fate in 2015 when they lost in the Elite Eight.
Before last week’s heartbreaking 28-21 loss to Rome in the Class 5A semifinals, Stockbridge had put together a magical season beginning in Week One with a 35-34 victory over Mays. The Tigers took down Lovejoy in their next game. Both Mays and Lovejoy made deep runs into the postseason and better prepared Stockbridge for the state playoffs.
