Na’ilah Allen

Union Grove grad Na’ilah Allen racked up the awards at Clayton State University’s athletics banquet for the 2020-21 school year.

The senior’s biggest honor was Female Athlete of the Year for all sports, though she also picked up two other top honors — Team MVP of both the women’s track and field and women’s cross country teams.

Allen was third in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 17.95 seconds) at the Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and also fifth in the 1,500 (4:45.79). She also ran on a conference runner-up 1,600 relay.

She missed out on an indoor track and field seasons because Clayton State canceled the indoor season for COVID-19 reasons.

In cross country, Allen was an All-Peach Belt selection after a runner-up finish at the conference meet — the highest finish by a Lakers runner since 2008. She finished the 5K race in 18:02.60.
