STOCKBRIDGE — A controversial mixed residential rezoning was approved by the Stockbridge City Council Monday following a lengthy public hearing process.

The rezoning of 79.16 acres of land from C3 (Heavy Commercial) to PUD (Planned United Development) was eventually approved unanimously by the council after a number of changes and conditions were placed on the rezoning. The rezoning hearing had already been deferred three times before coming up for a vote Monday. The Planning Commission and city’s planning staff had both recommended denial of the request.
