When God pronounced the penalty for Adam’s sin, He said that Adam was to till the ground, and that “both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you” (Gen. 3:18). The thorns and thistles and not only a “plague” in the environment but a more destructive form of thorns and thistles plagues our society with bitterness, suspicion, lies and division, to name a few sins.
