Abe Martin, the old Indiana philosopher, once said, “Nobody ever forgets where he he buried a hatchet.” To forgive means that we quit harboring an injury in our minds or holding a grudge.

Peter had asked Jesus how many times he should forgive another. In an attempt to be magnanimous, Peter himself had suggested seven times. You see, the Rabbinic teaching was that a person must forgive another person three times, so Peter was already above that number. But Jesus answered, “Not seven times, but seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22).
