Locust Grove council member receives ‘Lifetime Service Award’

LOCUST GROVE — Council member Frances Ward received the Lifetime Service Award from the Georgia Municipal Association Monday, in recognition of her 37 years of service to the city.

Ward served as city clerk from 1978 to 2002, when she won a seat on the city council. Her tenure will end in January. She was also a member of the Downtown Development Authority and treasurer for the city’s Events Committee during her time as clerk and council member.
