Donald Trump named Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate in the U.S. presidential election. Trump unveiled his pick on Truth Social as supporters gathered in Milwaukee for the Republican Party convention.

Sen. J.D. Vance, a Republican rising star who burst on the national scene by chronicling his upbringing in small-town Ohio, was named by former President Donald Trump as his vice presidential pick on the first day of the Republican National Convention.

Trump unveiled Vance, 39, as his running mate as the GOP kicks off its convention just two days after Trump survived an assassination attempt with only minor injuries.
