Tara Schiphof of Sugar Hill was recently crowned Miss Georgia.

Among the many thoughts flying through Tara Schiphof’s head when she was named Miss Georgia was a memory from 14 years ago.

“This has been a dream of mine,” said the 25-year-old Sugar Hill resident, who won the Miss Georgia competition on June 17 at the Riverfront Center for the Performing Arts in Columbus. “I had been to Miss America two times in my life, and in 2009 I went to New York City and wrote on a piece of confetti on the Wall of Hopes and Dreams, which was released out of the ball that dropped in Times Square on Jan. 1. That piece of confetti said ‘I hope to one day be Miss America.’”
