McDONOUGH— The Henry County Board of Elections ruled Thursday that there was not enough evidence to show that Commissioner Brian Preston is no longer a Henry County resident, a decision that allows him to remain on the Henry County voter polls. However, after the tense three-hour long hearing, Preston told the Henry Herald he plans to submit his resignation effective July 8 instead of at the end of the month as he previously announced.

Henry County Communications Director Melissa Robinson confirmed Friday that Preston tendered his resignation letter, effective immediately.
