Emancipation Proclamation observed in Locust Grove

The Henry County Voter's League will host its annual observance of the signing, and issuance, of the Emancipation Proclamation, Sunday, Jan. 1, at 3 p.m., in the Unity Grove Baptist Church, in Locust Grove.

It [the observance] began with a need to get black people to register and vote, said Chaundra Miller, of the Henry County Voters League.
