MCDONOUGH – The Henry County Police Department has been awarded a $64,200 Governor’s Office of Highway Safety grant and the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $24,662.

The GOHS grant was awarded by the state for the sole purpose of supporting the continuation of the Henry County Police Department’s Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic program. The purpose of the HEAT program is to enforce driving under the influence laws, traffic laws and occupant safety laws. The unit consists of one sergeant and three officers.
