Scores of local residents came to a brightly-colored downtown McDonough ion Friday in support of local efforts to keep kids safe.

An annual Pinwheels for Prevention event was held recently on the citys Square. A total of 2,090 pink, purple and blue pinwheels twirled in the wind, representing the number of child-abuse and neglect cases in the county in 2011.
