William Lenix of Jonesboro, were escorted, by a couple of Georgia Army National Guardsmen, into Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, Monday. The couple along with family and friends took part in a memorial service for their son Specialist Mitt-Chai Lenix, who was fatally shot May 15, at the Starlight Drive-in.

Thousands of mourners packed into a McDonough church Monday to bid farewell to Mitt Lenix. The Junior Olympic World Champion, who frequently appeared on ESPN, was killed last week at a drive-in theater in Atlanta.

Quentric Shaymond Williams, 32, of Lilburn, has been arrested and charged with Lenixs death.
