When I was a child, I had ADD or hyperactivity or something like it before they had initials and names for it. I drove everybody nuts because I never stopped. I was a regular little whirling dervish, full of energy and curiosity and questions.

I wanted to know why, where, who, when, and how. All at once, about everything. My folks came up with an awesome idea specifically designed to get them a few hours of peace. They bought me my very own reading lamp and it came with terms. It had a clasp to pin to the bed rail, and a twisty thing on the top to turn it on. I could read the whole night through as long as I was absolutely quiet. It worked like a charm.
