A Henry County Police officer bears the ashes of K-9 Thorr following a memorial service at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Home in McDonough Jan. 17. K-9 Thorr was euthanized following a collision between his patrol car and a tractor-trailer while working traffic on I-75.

McDONOUGH — The Henry County Police Department invited the public to line the streets Friday in memory of K-9 Thorr, who died in a traffic accident while on patrol Jan. 9 on I-75.

K-9 Thorr, 5, was a Belgian Malinois who served as a drug dog for HCPD. He was gravely injured when his patrol vehicle attempted to change lanes while doing traffic enforcement at the same time that a tractor-trailer changed lanes, striking the patrol car. Two officers suffered minor injuries and the truck driver was alert but airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.
