The non-profit Center for Cultural Interchange's Academic Year Program is seeking volunteer host families for foreign exchange students. For the upcoming 2011-12 school year, the program will offer foreign exchange students the chance to be fully immersed in the American cultural experience, which includes connecting with a host family in the U.S., attending high school, and experiencing life as a teenager in America first-hand.
Host families do not to pay for the program, they provide a room for the student, and an environment where cultural exchange can take place. Students have their own accident-and-health insurance and bring their own spending money. Students are encouraged to participate in school-sponsored activities, community service, and environmental programs. CCI provides regular communication and support to both host families and students. Host family applications are being accepted now through Aug. 15.
