A week into the COVID-19 national emergency, small businesses aren't feeling so good on the Square in McDonough. While some restaurants like PJ's and Main Street Tacos are still open, business is slow. Popular gathering places like the sweet shop Scoops have shut down temporarily because of social distancing recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control, "for your safety and the safety of our employees. May God bless." Gerhardt's World is still open for antique sales, but only for "those individuals with an appointment or to serious buyers." The Small Business Association announced this week that federal disaster loans are now available to combat COVID-19 losses.
