Two of the best books I've read recently both include a first person narrative from the main character, who is mentally handicapped, and a twisting investigation into some type of criminal situation by this character, who is both hindered and aided by his disability.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon is written as the diary of the main character: an autistic teenage boy named Christopher. In the first pages of the book, Christopher finds his neighbor's dog impaled with a garden tool and decides to launch an official investigation.
