McDONOUGH — It takes 300 school bus drivers in Henry County to ensure students are transported to and from school every day.

Currently, the district is about eight drivers short of full staff. That number is expected to drop to five when three new drivers transition to full time status, according to Cliff Shearouse, executive director of Transportation. Additionally, he said in the last few weeks he’s seen an improvement in the number of drivers on the road after returning from extended leaves.
