During the 1992 Democratic Presidential campaign, James Carville, Bill Clinton’s campaign strategist, formulated the most successful political slogan in modern times: “It’s the economy, stupid.” My goodness, how things have changed.

My bright idea for this article was to pen a story on the amusing and/or occasionally preposterous remarks made by all five of the presidential candidates still striving to persuade us of their remarkable intellect and ability to walk on water. First of all, I am not anywhere near convinced that an exceptional intelligence quota is floating around in the cerebral fluid of any of the candidates. And secondly, I’ll admit that on occasion I have hoped a couple candidates would attempt to stroll on water atop the Mariana Trench. But I digress.
