LOCUST GROVE — The Locust Grove football team rebounded from a tough loss for a 16-13 victory over Whitewater on Friday.

The Wildcats (2-1), coming off a 41-40 loss to Northgate, limited Whitewater to 3.6 yards per play and got a defensive touchdown from Rodney Wimbush on a 51-yard interception return in the first quarter. Wimbush also had a 7-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Kavion George rushed 23 times for 106 yards — his third straight 100-yard game — and Locust Grove (2-1) quarterback Justin Reynolds was 12 of 24 passing for 184 yards. Jay Philpot led the receivers with three catches for 65 yards.
