For many years this has been U.S. Open week, the playing of the second major championship of the golfing season. This is, perhaps, the tournament that American players want to win most although the specialness of the Masters make it the first choice of countless competitors.

“The U.S. Open is our national championship,” says Jack Nicklaus who has four U.S. titles in his trophy case.
