McDonough city officials removed a water fountain from the square Monday. The fountain was donated to the city in 1915 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

McDONOUGH — A marble drinking fountain that sat on the McDonough Square for 95 years has been placed in storage by city officials.

The fountain was presented to the city by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1915.

Is McDonough GA dying?

Based on FBI crime data, McDonough is no longer one of the safest communities in America. It's crime rate is now twice that of the rest of Georgia's cities and towns, regardless of size.

And yet, the county commissioners seem intent on stoking the flames of discontent.

"Pride goeth before the fall."
